October Favourites

Woohoo, I haven't done a favourites post in a couple of months but there are a few new products that I have been loving this past month that I had to share! I am looking forward to November because it brings an end to university for the year (finally) and I can get back to blogging and laying on the beach!

Another day, another beauty product

Last month I went shopping with my mum when I happened to come across a couple of the L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadows marked down in a bargain bin, in the colours Forever Pink and Flashback Silver. Picking those up made me dig out the other two I owned in Iced Latte and Goldmine, and I have been using them non stop this month. They are simply the best eye shadows I have ever tried from a low end brand.

If you aren't familiar with the product they are basically a pressed pigment eye shadow that come in a screw top package. They go on smooth, pigmented and metallic. Now I'm thinking I want to go ahead and collect every shade...

Forever Pink, Flashback Silver, Iced Latte and Goldmine

I feel like I've sampled a few different products from Chanel's makeup line now, and in my opinion, these guys are worth the price tag. They're called Illusion D'ombres, fancy name - fancy product. The formulation is a gel mousse texture and they are automatically what I reach for on special occasions.

Illusoire is a beautiful taupe purple and Epatant is a taupeish green. These colours are so complex, so sparkly, and so so special in my makeup collection. The apply beautifully and last all day. Love.

Illusoire and Epatant

A brand that I have been continually impressed with, product after product has been the Balm. I invested in their bronzer, Bahama Mama a few months ago now and it is a fantastic colour. The packaging is also probably the most adorable thing ever.

Now you might be looking at think and thinking, but Mishelle, you're a pale ass bitch, how are you going to wear this? Whilst it is a dark colour, it blends like no other. One swipe with a contour brush and I'm done!

Bahama Mama

A lipstick I haven't been able to stop wearing recently is Dior's Rouge Dior Nude in the colour Swan. This is just a beautiful every day pink that wears amazingly and I feel would suit a lot of people. My only gripe with this lipstick is that the smell is a little old fashioned.

Swan

Lastly I wanted to mention a skincare favourite of the month, which has been Aesop's Camellia Nut Facial Hydrating Cream. If you have dry or dehydrated skin, this is your guy. Filled with a zillion amazing oils, it is very thick and a little oily but my skin drinks it up within a few minutes of application. I think as the weather continues to heat up I will switch to just using this at night time and use a lighter moisturizer under makeup but for now I have been using it both evening and night.

Camellia Nut Facial Hydrating Cream

I think I officially have an obsession with  textured nail polish. I am snapping them up left, right and centre lately! I posted some swatches of the OPI Liquid Sands I have here if you'd like to see more.

Rimmel Shooting Star and Zoya Nyx

So that about wraps it up! What have been your favourite beauty products this month? Tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments :)

How To: The No-Makeup Makeup

Today I wanted to share a tutorial on what I think is an essential makeup look in any makeup enthusiasts bag of tricks - the no-makeup makeup! I'm talking of course about applying makeup in a way that looks as if you aren't wearing any makeup at all. If you follow my handy dandy tutorial, you'll soon be tricking people into thinking you just wake up this flawless!

Bright eyed and bushy tailed, even after my second all nighter this week

The goods you'll need

Start off by cleansing your face thoroughly, and applying your regular skincare bits. It's a good idea to also chuck some lip balm on at this point to get your lips nice and moisturised. I used the Nivea Lip Butter in Caramel Cream, because it's flipping delicious.

Slap on a good primer for your skin type. For myself I love a glowy primer such as the Natio Glow Balm, but oilier skin types may benefit from a mattifying primer!

Select a shear base. Yes even if you have some serious spots or pigmentation! We'll get to that in a minute. I used the Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream in Light, because it's a light, natural coverage.

Now the next step is important. When creating a no-makeup makeup look, you want to keep the most amount of natural skin showing through as possible. This is going to keep your look fresh and looking like real skin. Spot conceal, spot conceal, spot conceal. Even if you have to cover half your face in the heaviest duty concealer you own, keep the nice looking skin in between your problem areas high coverage FREE. Especially the area around the eyes. The eyes are the main place people look when they are speaking to you and if your foundation/concealer is caked around the eyes, they will notice that you are wearing makeup! I used the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer.

Finished Base!

All we want to do for eye shadow is blend a matte colour maybe 3-4 shades darker than your skintone into the crease of your eyes. This shadow is going to just enhance the natural shadows that fall there and help your eyes to look a teeny tiny bit more defined. I used Urban Decay's eyeshadow in Naked.

Ta-dah!

I forgot to take a picture of this but I also added a teeny bit of the same eyeshadow to my brows, just to fill in any gaps. The next step is to then curl your eye lashes.

Now because I have white eyelashes I then went ahead and applied the teeniest wee bit of mascara. If you have black or brown eyelashes, feel free to skip this step. If you have invisible eye lashes like me, I suggest you add a light coat of a natural looking mascara. To avoid it looking clumpy, I went ahead and wiped off any excess mascara onto a cotton round before taking the wand to my eyes. I used Maybelline's Mega Plush Mascara.

Lightly defined lashes help to open up the eyes!

Take a blush (I prefer a creme because they look so natural!) that melds with your natural skin tone and blend a little onto your cheeks. This is just to add some warmth back to the face that the foundation covered up. When I see someone with perfect skin and no natural flush to their face, it is a tell tale sign someone is wearing foundation. I used MUA's Blossom.

Lastly I went ahead and applied a very light, moisturisng lipgloss. The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfecter is amazing for the job!

And that is it! Those are my best tips for no-makeup makeup!

I hope this tutorial was helpful in some way, and let me know if you have any other tips for achieving the no-makeup makeup look! Also, let me know if you like this picture tutorial format, because it is really fun to do!

Sparkling Sands

It's no secret that I am a little bit in love with OPI. Since receiving a duet of these nail polishes on my birthday over a year ago, they have been slowly taking over my nail polish drawers. Recently I picked up a few of the Liquid Sands polishes and they have completely stunned me. Liquid Sands are a matte glitter polish that dry to a sandy, crystal like finish. And I am in love!

Baby Please Come Home - A purple taupe with a super glittery finish

Alcatraz Rocks - A blurple that is stunning in the sunshine

Silent Stars Go By - Champagne Pink, has a very sandy texture

Tiffany Case - A super metallic aqua blue

I can't even pick a favourite out of these colours because I love them all so much!

Are you a fan of the Liquid Sands formula? Let me know!

Recent Indulgences - Chanel, Dior, Aesop, OPI, Napoleon Perdis and More!

So... I kinda sorta did a cheeky bit of shopping. There have been so many amazing products catching my eye lately, and I know now coming into the Christmas period there will only be more beautiful limited edition products hitting our shelves. But for now, this is what I have picked up the last couple of weeks.

The goods

The first thing I picked up about two weeks ago a Mac Lipstick in Creme Cup. I think I am truly addicted to Mac Lipsticks. The formula and colour range is truly amazing. This one is a cult classic, a beautiful pale pink shade. I have been wearing it a lot and I absolutely love it.

I had my makeup done at Chanel on Friday and the $70 I paid for the appointment was fully redeemable in product. I decided to spend it on one of their Rouge Coco Shine Lipsticks in Sourire and one of their Illusion Dombre Eyeshadows in Illusoire

Creme Cup, Sourire and Illusoire

I recently saw Dior Amber Diamond highlighter in real life and it was stunning. I have been thinking about it ever since and I was thinking about splurging on it when I found out they don't sell it in Australia :( but instead I came across this beautiful eye shadow quad from their Christmas collection. I decided to give their Dior Glow and Smoky Contrast Palette a try. The shadows are very nice but I will have to wear them a few more times before I can give you my final verdict. The sales assistant told me that if I picked up a second item she could give me a gift with purchase, so I decided to add on a lipstick I'd been eyeing off which is the Rouge Dior Nude lipstick in the colour Swan. This lipstick is similar to Creme Cup but  it's definitely more peachy.

Glow and Smokey Contrast Palette, Swan

The gift with purchase included a sample of their Capture Totale Moisturiser, a sample of Diorshow Iconic Mascara, a sample of their Capture Totale Foundation and a sample of their Dior J'adore Perfume.

To celebrate the introduction of Napoleon Perdis counters to Myer they were giving away a free Luminous Lip Veil in VIP with every purchase! So I decided to pick up a lipstick that had been on my wishlist which was Devine Goddess in Electra. This is a knockout peachy pink colour, I can't even describe how much I am in love with this colour!

I know the Revlon Lip Butters are old news but I found them on sale for $8 each at a chemist so I decided to pick up a couple of colours I didn't already own, which were Sweet Tart and Berry Smoothie. But of an implulse purchase, but I'll get my use out of them this summer!

Berry Smoothie, Sweet Tart

Recently I have been starting to notice my skin reacts so much better to richer moisturisers and serums. My skintone has been looking so even and glowing since I have been using more oils. I decided to go ahead and pick up the Aesop Camelia Nut Facial Hydrating Cream. I've only been using it for about a week but so far this stuff has been amazing. Such a deep, thick moisturiser. As for facial oils, I really wanted to try out a Jojoba oil. Jojoba has been cited as having similar properties to the natural oils found in our skin so I decided to give the AUM Jojoba Oil a go! It smells really nice and works well too :)

With the weather warming up, it's time to get tanned. When I get my legs out after the winter I just need to add a bit of artificial tan. This Le Tan Instant Foaming Mousse is great for pale girls as it make you brown, not orange! I thought I should also grab a decent facial sunscreen and the Invisible Zinc is something I've been meaning to try for a while! While at Aesop I also grabbed this amazing Rind Concentrate Body Balm. This stuff smells so cirtus-y and amazing and it is perfect for the summertime. If you want to splurge on a body balm, this is your stuff.

These OPI are an accumulation of the buy one get one free sales at David Jones and ebay purchases. These first five are all Liquid sands formula, in the colours Tiffany Case, Baby Please Come Home, Silent Stars Go By, Alcatraz Rocks and What Wizardy is This?

These ones are Sprung, Wonderous Star, Polka.com and  I Snow You Love Me

And finally we have Peace Love and OPI, Lights of Emerald City, Coney Island Cotton Candy, I Don't Give a Rotterdam and Tickle my France-y

Finally a couple more nail polishes, Essie Bikini So Teeny, Rimmel Salon Pro in Britpop and Soul Session, and lastly Australis Mates Rates

Finally, I thought I'd just share some pictures of the Makeup I had done at the Chanel counter. It was very over the top from what I am used to, but it was kinda cool to try something very out there.

The eye shadow look

Wow that was a lot of stuff. So many new lovely things to try out in the next few weeks!

Did any of these products catch your eye? What have you been buying lately?
