Cellnique Skincare

As someone obsessed with makeup,  I don't know why I always skipped over skincare products. However for the last year my interest in skincare has grown, when fine lines started rearing their ugly heads under my eyes. Anyways, a company called Cellnique contacted me about a month and a half ago asking if I wanted to try out some of their skincare products from the b.liv line. Shall we see what the verdict is?

b.liv by Cellnique Balm and Calm, Soothe and Splash and Repair and Rescue

First up we have Balm and Calm, which is a serum designed for sensitive skin, to reduce sensitivity and repair your skins natural barrier. It is a clear gel consistency. The things I liked about this is that it is very fast absorbing and it made my moisturiser sink into my skin well. My skin has been feeling a bit less sensitive overall since I have been using this in combination with the Soothe and Splash Moisturiser. However I don't feel the results were enough to write home about!

The website says that it works best for those with red acne prone or extremely dry skin, and maybe the reason I only saw moderate results is because I only have moderate sensitivity. It retails for $49. I don't think I would purchase this myself, unless my skin was really acting up.

Next we have the Soothe and Splash Moisturiser. I love this stuff. It goes great under makeup, and makes my skin feel so soft! Their website says you will have radiant, velvety skin, which I think is a perfect way to describe how my skin felt. My skin's texture felt totally smooth after using this product for 2 weeks. I liked that I actually saw a change in my skin's texture, which was very nice!

My only gripe with this product is that it doesn't have SPF in it, which is something I look for in a daily moisturiser. It retails for $39. I wish this had SPF in it, if it did I would purchase it myself.

Last but not least I was sent a box of the Repair and Rescue Sheet masks. There are seven in the box when you get them but I have already used four up, once a week since I got them. I absolutely love these masks. They are the most effective face masks I have ever tried.

Cellnique say that these masks rescue skin from sensitivity, restore skin's renewal to tone and rejuvenate the complexion. Basically what I experienced after using these was my skin feeling very very moisturised and smooth. If I had any redness it was completely calmed town and my skin almost felt more plump and youthful. If you have dry, irritated or tired looking skin, you need these in your life. I am saving these last three for when I have something special on and want my skin to look radiant. These masks retail for $25. Hell yeah I will be purchasing these with my own money.

Overall I have to say I love this brand. Their packaging is really clean and simple, and the products do what they say on the bottle. I'd be interested to see how someone with worse skin found the Balm and Calm serum. There website is and they have free shipping on all orders, worldwide. That's always something I like to hear!

Cellnique also gave me a 30% coupon code for you to use which is BLG30A

The coupon expires on 30/6/13

I'd love to know what is your holy grail skincare item?

What's in my Bag? + Review of the Marc by Marc Jacobs Petal to the Metal Natasha Bag :)

I love watching "what's in my handbag" videos on Youtube. Maybe it's just my voyeuristic nature, but I really enjoy seeing which handbags work for different people, and what they keep inside them. On a recent wishlist I mentioned lusting after the Marc by Marc Jacobs Petal to the Metal Natasha Bag, and I was lucky enough to pick it up from Shopbop in their friends and family sale. Anyways, here is the video!

I am so happy with this bag

How it falls on my body

Also, can I just say that I am very very impressed with the service I received from Shopbop  I will definitely be using them to make any designer purchases in the future! The bag is also available at Saks.

What do you think of my new handbag? What handbag are you currently lusting after?

On my Nails Recently...

Hello everyone, sorry that I have been gone for the past week, university is always so busy towards the end of semester. Even though I haven't been blogging I have been taking photos of my nails, so why not collaborate them all into one big post? (You may want to grab a cup of tea for this one!)

Sportsgirl Holographic over Orly Choreographed Chaos
This is probably the most girly mani I have worn in a really long time!

Sportsgirl Holographic
Holographic bar glitter. This nail polish is the current love of my life.

Orly Atomic Splash over Revlon Pale Cashmere
I was trying to recreate the Illamasqua Speckled look here

OPI I'm Not Really a Waitress
My holy grail red nail polish, a beautiful velvety red. I love the name too.

Revlon Popular
Another pretty feminine polish, very very me <3 This was gifted to me by the wonderful Natalia.

Ulta3 Lilac Bloom
I think I put too much of this on my nails as it sort of cracked at the edges. Hmm...

Ulta3 Twinkle Toes over Ulta3 Soft Hydrangea
Such a lovely pastel blue.

Julz Perri Nails Spring Flower False Nails
These are a beautiful false nail set from Julz's Etsy Store! Full review on these to come soon :D

Project 30 Pan Update #1

I'm finally getting towards completion of a couple of uni assignments this week so I thought I would take a quick break to bring you an update on my Project 30 Pan!

What I've Used Up:

I loved the Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser. It is a non foaming cleanser that is excellent at  removing every last trace of makeup without drying my skin out or making it go red or inflamed. This is my current Holy Grail cleanser, but I need to use up a couple of other ones in my shower before I will be allowed to repurchase it. This bottle lasting me 4 months, using it every morning and night.

I finished a bottle of the Joico K-Pak Reconstruct Shampoo. This is a really nice shampoo, it makes your scalp feel clean without drying it out, and it left my hair feeling soft. I still don't feel like this is a holy grail shampoo though, I am still looking for something perfect for me. I may repurchase.

Batiste Dry Shampoo is a staple in my hair routine, I do prefer the Klorane dry shampoo but as Batiste is cheaper I tend to buy this more often. I would repurchase.

The Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Moisturizer is one of my favourite moisturizers that I have tried. It leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth, but not greasy! I would definitely repurchase again once I have used up my other moisturizers :) try this one out girls, you won't regret it!

This Orly Nail Lacquer Remover mini wass awesome, it didn't stink like most of them do! However I took it with me on holiday and the container through all my makeup :( I hope the full size bottle is better than the mini one!

Natio Dramatic Lashes Mascara was a dud for me. I think it's just the rubber bristles. I hate rubber brushes on mascaras, they just don't work for me personally. Would not repurchase.

I already have a mini size of Benefit Girl Meets Pearl, and I really like the product. I may purchase the full size if I ever manage to use up some of my highlighters.

This sample of L'Occitane Hydration Creme was lovely, I would love to try a full size in the future.

I finally hit the end of my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. This concealer was great, it has amazing coverage, however it transfers too easily. As someone who wears glasses this is a pain in my ass, so I don't think I will purchase this again.

I asked for this sample of the Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer to test it's transfer resistance, but it transferred onto my glasses sadly :( covers amazingly though.

This sample of Laura Mercier Creme Silk Foundation in Rose Ivory looked straight up orange on me. At the suggestion of Sarah, I got the shade Creme Ivory which I have yet to retry. Will keep you updated on my thoughts of this one.

So none of these empties count for this month (Read my Rules here) but everything from now on will!

This is really only the beginning of this project but I actually already cheated on it below. Mothers Day deals got me! I couldn't resist when I went to L'Occitane....

The Almond Enhancement Gift set is what got me. I have been dying to try out the L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil for ages, and when I saw this mothers day gift set, I could not resist. I must admit I felt a bit guilty the next day, but as I have been wanting to try out the products in this range for so long I couldn't feel too bad.

I have also been looking for a good roller ball perfume for my purse, so I picked up one in the fragrance Rose 4 Reines. It smells beautiful, and for spending over $70 and purchasing a perfume I also got this Delicate Floral Collection gift set for free. The offer is still available if you want to check it out :)

I love the ombre bottle :)

The Rose Gift Set

I love the makeup bag it came in, it's so cute and French! <3

So I did mess up once but this is all I have bought in the last two weeks so I'm definitely getting better! However for the perfume and the gift set I am penalizing myself 4 more products to project pan!

The only other cosmetic purchase was at Mac, but it was not a guilty purchase! As I ran out of my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and didn't have any backups, I allowed myself to try out their Pro Long Wear Concealer. Ding ding ding, I think we have a winner! This doesn't appear to transfer very much at all! The other purchase is boring, just a bottle of Mac Brush Cleanser. Because you know, we all need to clean our brushes.

So that's my first update on project pan! Off to a bit of a rocky start but hopefully it gets better from here on out. I mean, I went into Chemist Warehouse yeseterday and I only bought my medicine, no makeup :D That has to count for something ;)

Updating My Winter Makeup ft. Love From Shell

I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Shell from Love From Shell recently, for an evening of shopping in the city. After endless chats about makeup and life, we decided that it would be a great idea to do a collab post, so here it is!

We decided set a challenge to update each other's makeup for the Autumn/Winter for $50. Luckily it coincided with the 40% off Priceline sale! Anyways, onto what she got me!

The loot

This Maybelline eyeshadow quad in Give Me Gold couldn't possibly be more autumnal. As the days grow shorter and the morning light turns golden, I can't think of a better excuse to turn to rich, warm browns and golds. The quality of these eye shadows was unexpectedly good, however I did experience some fading.

Give Me Gold

What better to match golden eyes than golden cheeks? Rimmel Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush in Tuscany is a bronze blush (I'd even call it a bronzer) with the tiniest hint of a sparkle. It goes beautifully with Give me Gold and it wears very well on me. I thought this may be a dupe for my favourite Nars Madly, but it is definitely more dark and more bronze.

Alas, Perth does not have the chilliest of winters. I miss the south east coast where I grew up, where it rained, stormed and even frosted this time of the year. Atleast I can pretend it's getting colder with these deep navy blues. Bourjois Duochrome Eyeliner in Noir Bleute is a regular black eyeliner when it's in shadow but when it hits the light you can see a metallic navy blue. Models Prefer Infinite Shadow Pencil in Mystique is a blackened teal. They both wear well, but the Models Prefer one is my personal favourite. It is creamy enough that I end up running my eyeliner brush over it and applying it in that manner, rather than directly from the pencil. I will have to do another look where I use it as a base for a navy blue smokey eye!

Swatches: Noir Bleute, Mystique and Give Me Gold quad

Wine reds are one of my favourite color palettes for the winter. I am in love with the rich berry hues of this Covergirl Nail Polish, called Wine to Five. As opposed to this, Revlon's Wine with Everything is a more warmer take on wine reds. I am in love with the formulas of both of these products.

Give Me Gold, Tuscany and Wine With Everything

I hope this both gave you some ideas of products to reach for this autumn/winter season. I will be posting more looks featuring these colours soon, so stay tuned!

Shell has already put up her post here! Go and check out what I got her :)

What is your favourite winter product?

April Favourites

It's May already and I'm in denial about how fast the year is passing by. I thought it was time to get my favourites up so y'all know what I've been putting on my face this month.

The favourites

Lush Marilyn is a hair moisturiser for blonde hair. The consistency of this reminds me a lot of cake batter, which made me want to get baking every time I used it. I often try out hair mask type products, but I have frequently found myself disappointed. However this one is one of very few I feel actually contributed a lasting difference to the texture of my hair. It made my hair look blonder, shinier and softer. Highly recommended!

In my opinion Maybelline make the best drugstore mascaras. Although I am very inclined to Lancome's formulations, I find that forking out $50 every few months is a little bit more than my wallet is comfortable with. So I decided to try out the much hyped Maybelline the Falsies and I really like the formula. It is very volumizing and it doesn't smudge or fade throughout the day. I think I would repurchase this one again.

In spirit of my project pan I pulled out this Australis Primer that has been sitting in my drawer since the boxing day sales. The first couple of times I used it I was generally unimpressed but as I persevered I came to appreciate the smoothing qualities of this primer. When I applied it on my face after my skincare routine I noticed it made a significant difference to my skin's texture, even before applying foundation. My only gripe is that it contains fragrance, which as a product that is supposed to protect the skin is a pretty stupid inclusion.

I think the last time I used Revlon Colorstay foundation must have been atleast six months ago. I purchased this bottle last year when I first started researching popular foundations online. I remembered it being very thick and cakey, but I thought I would try to use it up for my project pan. Perhaps it's because I have different brushes now but I am really enjoying it this time around. I had some awful breakouts this month and this foundation has great coverage and really helped to conceal the problem. It lasts so well, and I love the natural finish of Nars Sheer Glow, but it just doesn't have the staying power that this sucker does!

First of all, sorry for this photo being so dark. The sun does not want to come out from behind a cloud today. If you saw my review of Nars Dragon Girl earlier this month, you'll already know my thoughts on it, but in summary this is my holy grail red lip product at the moment.

I got a sample of the Kosmea Skin Clinic Rescue Balm in my David Jones Beauty Bag a while back and I hadn't touched it until this month. I belive this is an all purpose balm, akin to the likes of Lucas Paw Paw Ointment, but I have been using it soley as a lipbalm. In summary, this is fantastic. It really helps to moisturize and soothe the lips, and I have been using it to prep my lips all month. It smells a little bit medical so I would give it a smell before you rush out and by it, I get the feeling it is a scent some wouldn't like.

I have been saying forever that I need to start including my favourite blogs in my favourites, so here is one that you need to follow. Marie from Ruelalips is one of my favourites, I love that her posts are a mix of reviews and little features. Please go check her out and tell her I sent you!

The new season of Game of Thrones has been exceeding every expectation I had for it. Episode 4 was absolutely mind blowing. If you haven't been watching this show, you are missing out! Get on it!

This youtube video made me laugh more than I want to admit this month!

I hope you guys had a good April, because here comes May.
