A Shine that Lasts

I was debating purchasing a couple of the Loreal Caresse Shine Stains off ebay for such a long time that they decided to turn up in Australia before I got the chance to. When I ran into them in stores two weeks ago at 30% off, I couldn't really say no to giving this unique product a try.

These Shine stains have a very unique texture, which most people I have seen either love or hate. It kind of feels like you have a layer of gummy candy on your lips. Whilst this might not sound appealing to most, the texture doesn't really bother me that much, however I am not particularly phased by sticky lip glosses  I also think that the strange consistency is worth putting up with for the amazing wear time. Onto the swatches.

Onto the wear time, these last for the longest time on me. They easily last as long as a lipstick, I can go for 4 or 5 hours without having to touch these up. I generally apply one layer, wait 30 seconds, and then apply a second layer. This method creates the most opaque colour, however they could easily be worn in just a single layer if you were wanting more of a lasting gloss, and less of the colour.

As you can see these do not stain very well at all. But that isn't why I like them. If I want to wear a gloss to work, I chose these now, because selling things in a retail store means that you can't really top up your lip gloss every half an hour. In my opinion these are a fantastic product, and very unique on the market. However I can see why these are a product that divides people's opinions. But I do think you need to try them atleast once!

  1. Great review Mishelle! I've been lusting over these for quite sometime as I wasn't too sure about the wear. I guess I'll be heading to the L'Oreal stand any time soon now :)

  2. Romy looks gorgeous! I've been eyeing these out for a while now, but still not sure if I would actually wear it on a day to day basis. I have so many lip products I don't know if I will finish them all! Haha x

  3. These look so lovely but I don't think I could deal with the sticky nature of the gloss. Thank goodness these are so expensive though, or else I probably would have purchased a whole heap anyway!

  5. I still don't know whether to get those or not. They look pretty, but I'm not sure if I would like the consistency...

  6. I really love Romy layered! It's such a saturated shade! I've got one shade myself, a bright fuchsia, and its so lovely when layered and glossy! I still find them a bit drying after they've faded but the shades are gorg!

  7. Ohhh pretty! I'm not one for sticky lipglosses though! (I used to be, and then somehow the older I got, the more I hated them lol!) I think I'd give them a go though, because the shades are soooo pretty!

  8. Great review :) to be honest, none of the colours really appeal to me, I was struggling to find two that I could really justify buying during Pricelines recent Loreal promotion. At least there's always good ole' eBay if I don't want to pay Ozzie RRP! :)

  9. They don't seem to be very opaque! I was hoping for something similar to Rimmel Apocalips.
They still look lovely, but totally not what I was expecting.

    1. Nope they are more of a lipgloss than a liquid lipstick!

  10. I'm glad that you like them and at least 30% is a pretty good discount even though the Australian RRP is a joke. I'm not a fan of the way they feel on my lips and I kind of wish I had bought one of the more pigmented shades rather than Lolita or Marilyn. But still, they're good just to try out for yourself as you say.

  11. Great review, Mishelle! I've been curious about these too. The "gummy candy" texture sounds pretty interesting. And that wear time, wow! I'll have to get a color to test out soon myself. :D

  12. It is very difficult to tell the two colours apart in your pictures, but still I do like the gloss of them, so will definitely be getting one too!

    1. They aren't that different overall, Lolita is more brown/nude whereas Romy is more pink.

  13. When I saw the second picture with the applicator, I thought "OOoo! YSL Glossy Stain dupe?!" but it sounds like they're quite different, as YSL glossy stains aren't sticky and they're staining power is amazeballs. I don't think I'll like these Loreal Caresse Shine Stains because I absolutely hate sticky stuff on my lips, which is great for my wallet lol

    1. I need to try a YSL glossy stain to compare for myself!
