In this palette there are one cheek and lip colour, one cream highlighter, four eye shadows and two lip glosses. Having both cream and powder products in the same palette has not been a problem so far. The colours included in the palette feel like they were curated specifically to create looks that enhance natural beauty and meld with the natural tones associated with shadows, highlights, blushing cheeks and lips. I love the formula of all of these shades, and the cream products smell like figs, which I adore.
Cheek and Lip Colour swatched heavily and blended, Cream Highlighter swatched heavily and blended
The Cheek and Lip colour formula is so smooth and blend-able, it's one of the best cream blush formulas I have ever tried, and very similar to that of the individual compact rouge. I thought initially that the colour would not suit me but when you sheer it out is a very natural plum/brown colour that is so flattering on my skintone. I will be wearing this one a lot in the winter time!
The Cream Highlighter is the only item in this palette that I dislike. It is much drier in formula, however it still blends out very easily. The only reason I dislike it is because it has quite a glittery finish, and you can see the glitter particles on the skin. As someone who prefers a highlighter with more of a glow or sheen this just isn't my cup of tea.
You can see much see what I am talking about here :)
(Please excuse the foundation on my nose, it looks jacked up here but fine irl haha)
The eye shadows, left to right top to bottom
A basic eye look ;)
The lip glosses top to bottom
These lip glosses give only a hint of colour payoff, however they are smooth and have quite a balmy, moisturizing feeling on the lips. They have a thicker consistency than tubed lip gloss, and they give off a lovely shine. These lip glosses also smell like figs, as with the other cream products in this palette.
The completed look
This palette really does stand up to it's Back to Basics name. Edward Bess's makeup line has really impressed me, these are such fine quality products. It is an outstanding palette in terms of both composition of the shades, however, do you need it? I feel like you would probably already have a lot of similar items to this in your collection, individuality. But it is a great palette to travel with or to even keep in your handbag for touch ups.

ReplyDeleteThis palette looks awesome! I really like the look you created with it. Where did you find it?
ReplyDeleteSorry lovely, it's from Zuneta http://www.zuneta.com/

The palette looks beautiful and such a great size for carrying around or traveling with. The only problem I see is that there are creams in with powders, that always ends up a mess for me!

This Edward Bess palette looks lovely - I quite like that there is both powder and cream products available. Unfortunately I haven't tried any EB products before, but I think I have to after reading this lovely post! x

I think I've really only ever seen Edward Bess on your blog and someone else's. It's definitely not a brand that's been on my radar but I've only heard good things about it from you so.. hmm.. what do you recommend from them?
ReplyDeleteI have only tried this palette and a cream blush but I love them both, I want to try his lipsticks next!

Yay! I'm so glad you love it, and the look you did with it is beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate, I took your recommendation!

oh man...I am itching to try that blush! Does it dry to a powder finish? Or is it still dewy? Is it relatively long lasting?
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely a more dewy finish. It lasts very well on me, just as long as my powder blushes!

I've heard so much about Edward Bess but never got around to trying anything! That palette looks amazing though, despite the highlighter. I'm not a fan of glittery highlighters either.
ReplyDeleteI think this is perfect for when travelling. xx :) Has a big selection of shades.
ReplyDeleteThat palette looks really pretty and practical. On another note...isn't it annoying how cream blushes sweat in the Australian heat?
ReplyDeleteIt sure is!

I haven't heard of this brand before but this palette looks quite practical, having many different products in it! The eyeshadows look pretty, I love their neutral shades :)
ReplyDeleteI very much like the idea of the palette but personally I need more kick in the colors! Even with browns I like more dimension so my small lids have more shape! Thanks for reviewing dear!
ReplyDeleteGreat colors for a neutral contoured look xx
ReplyDeleteLooks gorgeous! I've always wanted a palette that can create an entire face look... I only have one palette at the moment, which is the NAKED one!
ReplyDeletePretty palette! You look radiant and so cute!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a great all-in-one basics palette! Very practical. :)
ReplyDeleteWow what a fantastic palette! The lip/cheek color is my favorite! Lovely look xx

The Cheek and Lip colour looks super pretty - I imagine it would get quite a bit of use in autumn/winter :) Love the eye look that you did with the shadows too!
ReplyDeleteI love the look! And I agree, I don't like glitter highlighters too :(
