October Empties

Hey everyone

Today I have another batch of empties for you :)

Maroussia Perfume by Slava Zaitsev - This is a very musky, heavy scent. I really prefer scents like this to very floral or fruity scents, it feels more me. It's my favourite perfume, my 'signature scent'.

Seche Vite - This stuff is amazing. It is the best top coat I have ever used. I have actually neglected painting my nails since I ran out, that's how essential it is to me. I have a new bottle coming in the mail.

Schwarzkopf Blonde Hair Dye - I went against my personal rule of NEVER using packet dyes. It did not go well. My hair went wayyyyy yellow on the ends and completely white at the roots. Never again.

Brown Hair Elastics - I put this in here as a bit of a joke XD I am always running out of hair elastics even though I am always buying packs! It's so annoying.

Cutex Strengthening Nail Polish Remover - This is my favourite nail polish remover ever! It works quickly and it's pretty cheap. Not much more you can ask for :)

Lancome Bi Facil Makeup Remover - I got this sample with a mascara that I purchased at the start of the year and it's been sitting in my drawer. I don't think that this is as good as the neutrogena one which is a third of the price. I wouldn't get the full size.

Neutrogena Eye Makeup Remover - This stuff is really, really good. It lasts a long time because you don't have to use as much as other cleansers. I would highly recommend this makeup remover if you are looking for a new one. I have already re-purchased.

If you did an empties post this month, let me know! :)

Makeup Mark UP! USA vs. Australia

Hey everyone!

We all know that the price of makeup in Australia sucks. We often resort to shopping online and getting things forwarded to us from American stores. But have you considered which companies are the worst offenders?

In this post I am comparing the prices of eight popular makeup items and how much they are marked up by. I started thinking about the results the other day in Myer and this post confirmed my suspicions! Onto the comparisons!

Illamasqua Powder Blush USA - $26
Illamasqua Powder Blush AUS - $28

That's 107% mark up!

Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel USA - $48
Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel AUS - $67

That's 139% mark up!

Burberry Eye shadow USA - $29
Burberry Eye shadow AUS - $45

That's 155% mark up!

Benefit Benetint USA - $29
Benefit Benetint AUS - $55

That's 190% mark up!

MAC Lipstick USA - $15
MAC Lipstick AUS - $36

That's 240% mark up!

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara USA - $7.99
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara AUS - $19.25

That's 240% mark up!

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Foundation USA - $12.95
L'Oreal Lumi Magique Foundation AUS - $33.95

That's 262% mark up!

Revlon Lip Butter USA - $7.50
Revlon Lip Butter AUS - $21.95

That's 292% mark up!

So the cheaper brands are the worst offenders!

What do you think of the results?

Skincare Update (Soap and Glory Fab Pore Reaction)

Hey everyone,

So I broke my spending ban a while ago for the Soap and Glory Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser. The universe was obviously punishing me for breaking it, because it did not go down well.

Now I used it for 2 weeks, and long story short, my skin reacted to it in a very negative way. I had lots of red bumps and some broke out into sores. It looked horrible and I didn't even want to take photos to put on here. Anyway - I stopped using it and went back to Cetaphil. My skin was not, and still has not completely gotten back to normal from that cleanser. I believe I had a reaction to the essentials oils that were in that cleanser.

I went into Kit Cosmetics yesterday and talked to the sales assistant and she said that since I had such a bad reaction I could bring it back and swap it for something else. Yesterday I picked up the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion which is a spot treatment to help clear up the break outs. I think it worked well last night and I will update you on how it goes!

I then went back today and swapped the Soap and Glory for the Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel. The sales assistant also gave me samples of the toner and moisturizer.

Overall I have a lot of respect for Kit's customer service and I will be shopping there again in the future.

Why Do I Wear Makeup?!

Hey everyone!

I took this tag from Jade in the Palace! The TAG is "Why Do I Wear Make Up?", you post a picture of yourself, half bare face half with make up and tell our story why do we wear make up!

When did you start to wear make up?
I have loved makeup from a very young age. When I was a little kid I had a silvery blue eye shadow and a few other makeup items that I was allowed to wear to school discos and when I went with my friends on weekends (this was probably around the age of 8 or so). When I was in high school (14 years old) we had a class called Team Time where we could pick a special class to go to that was outside of normal school activities. The one I picked was called Personal Images and it basically taught girls about beauty and makeup. That's when I started wearing mascara, eye liner, foundation etc.

How do you feel without make up?
If I have good skin I don't really give a shit. I will go to the shops or around without any makeup on, or just mascara. However if I am with friends, or at university for the day I will almost always wear makeup.

What do you like about make up?
I like that it gives you the ability to switch up your appearance from day to day. I like to enhance my natural features more so than change them with makeup. I love colour and being able to play with it to create looks :D

Tell your story about your growing love for make up!
I used to be way more into fashion, however after struggling so badly with my weight I kind of fell into a makeup obsession :D

FOTD: Vice Palette #2 aka Cat Eyes

Hey everyone,

So today's Face of the Day was taken at 6:00pm at night!

Why so late you might ask? To show you the wear time of the Urban Decay Vice Palette of Course!

Eyes - Penny Lane on the Lid, Muse in the crease, Black Market on the outer V
I am using Urban Decay Primer Potion also :)
I am pretty tired haha!

Today I did a cat eye like shape with my eye shadow and I really like the effect!
Especially with my glasses on it looks awesome :D

Now as you can see the intensity of the eye shadow on the top center part of the lid is fading, and a lot of Muse in the crease has faded. But it's not easy to tell because you don't see it when your eyes are open!

Overall, I don't think the wear time of these is the best ever EVER but it still performs very well.

Maybelline Full and Soft Mascara Review - Holy Grail Item

Hey everyone

Today I wanted to share with you one of my holy grail products - Maybelline's Full and Soft Mascara.

Now this was one of the first mascaras I ever owned. I think I was about 14 when I first got it, and to this day I think I have probably owned about 10 tubes.

The best things about this mascara is that it never clumps or sticks your lashes together.

There are a lot of thin soft bristles that really separate your lashes and define each lash.

This is not the best, most extreme, better than false lashes mascara, but it is one I always come back to :)

My bare lashes

1 Coat of Mascara

2 Coats of Mascara

What is your favourite mascara by Maybelline?

Lush Haul! Halloween and Christmas goodies :D

Hey everyone!

Today I have a little Lush Haul of the Christmas and Halloween goodies :D

1. Popcorn Lip Scrub - this is a scrub used to exfoliate dry lips :) usually I just mix my own but it's much more convenient to have one all ready in a tub like this. It tastes sweet and savory at the same time, and the ingredients say that it has popping candy in it haha! This is a Christmas item.

2. Angels Delight Soap - OMG RAINBOW! This soap smells like orange lolly snakes :) I always use lush soap because it's just delightful in general. This is a Christmas item.

This is what the whole wheel of Angel's Delight looked at the shop - how beautiful!!!

3. Jacko Ballistic - This bath bomb smells like sherbet and mint. It's supposed to smell like pumpkin but I don't agree at all, maybe it will when I use it? This is a Halloween item.

4. North Pole Soap (?) - I'm not sure which one this is but I think it's the North Pole Soap. It smells like candy :D This is a Christmas item.

5. The Witches Ball Bubble Bar - This smells very herbal, and very fresh. It's almost like a forest or grass. It's very natural, I love this one!

Will you be picking anything up at Lush out of these collections?

Magic Mondays #2 Women in Comedy :D

Hey everyone!

So I am a huge fan of comedy, especially stand up and skit based comedy. However I feel that women are often very under represented in the field, which makes me quite sad :(

However, one of my favourite places to watch comedy is on YouTube, especially because there are a lot of hilarious women on there! So this post is just me showing some love to my top 5 female comedy YouTubers. I hope that this cures your Monday-itis!

FOTD: Urban Decay Vice Palette

Hey everyone :)

Just a quick FOTD using my new Urban Decay Vice Palette :D

Yay! :D

Base - Garnier BB Cream in Light
Lips - Face of Australia Lip Crayon in Cupcake
Highlighter - Mac Soft and Gentle

It's only using three colours - Unhinged on the lid, Chaos on the outer corner and in the crease, and Anonymous on the browbone :)

I think this is a bit too much for me to be honest! I love the colours but I feel like I stand out too much with this bright blue look. Maybe I just need to get used to it? I'm going to the shops now, I'll report back if people think I'm crazy.

What do you think?

Urban Decay Vice Palette - Swatches and Review!

Hey everyone!

I finally got my Urban Decay Vice Palette yesterday! I am so excited by this palette, it is amazing!

Now first up - the packaging of this is amazing. I almost bought last year's book of shadows but the packaging was a hot mess. I am so glad that I waited. This palette is so simple yet it's stunning. The mechanism that opens the lid is also fantastic, it opens quite slowly and stands at the angle in the picture above. The full size mirror also makes this amazing to use. The brush that is included is nice also, very soft and blends out well :)

These shades are all brand new and exclusive to this palette! I mostly bought it for the bright colours in the center but the neutrals in this are absolutely stunning also! Most of the shades are the usual buttery texture, however the shade Jagged just sucks. When you swipe your brush across it you appear to get a lot of glitter and a lot of fall out. I can't say I was that bothered though because it was probably  my least favourite colour in the palette anyway XD

The box!

The back of the box with the shades!

The bejeweled cover :)

The eye shadows :D

Onto the swatches!

Desperation, Muse, Jagged, Blitz, Penny Lane

Junkie, Chaos, Occupy, Unhinged, Black Market

Provocateur, Rapture, Vice, Noise, Armour

Nevermind, Echo Beach, Anonymous, Freebird, Laced

I also did a quick eye look, but look out for more that I will post throughout this week

Sunset eyes!

Sorry that my hair looks so yellow?

Blitz on the inner corner, Penny Lane in the centre, Noise on the outer corner and in the crease, and Anonymous on my browbone :D
My verdict?

Buy this. It's the best all rounder palette I have seen, and it's a bargain in terms of the price of single urban decay eye shadows.

I got this for AUD $65 from Beauty Bay.
